Puppet Combo is the title of game developer Ben Cocuzza, who creates PS1 styled games with 70s-80s slasher premises. Some of his most popular games are Power Drill Massacre, Nun Massacre, and Murder House. Puppet Combo's first released game was Minotaur, (which would later become Power Drill Massacre) and his most recent release is Christmas Massacre. He owns a publishing label titled "Torture Star Video" that promotes indie horror developers like Black Eyed Priest.
I think I've always been at least subconsciously aware of Puppet Combo's existence, and to be totally honest, I didn't really get super invested until this year! But I'm so glad I did get into it because Puppet Combo has created some of the best horror games I've ever played. A personal favorite of mine is Power Drill Massacre. When I first saw a playthrough of the game I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere it created. At first it just looked like a one-and-done horror game where you walk around and get jumpscared then die, a formula I had seen far too often, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how much more it was than just a scary walking simulator. Secrets and little bits of lore are littered in every part of the game, and it even has multiple endings! With an intriguing killer, plenty of mysteries, and a fun playing experience, it's no wonder I became so connected to the game.
That's not even mentioning the dozens of other wonderful games that Puppet Combo has developed! Here are a few of my favorites...
